President - Larry Barnes

Well it’s finally here. The big event of our year—

THE 5th ANNUAL LAKE COUNTRY CLASSICS IN THE PARK CAR SHOW.

I don’t know about you but I can feel the excitement building. It doesn’t seem like we have done this for five years—but we have. And the show this year is going to be the biggest and best we have ever put on.

As I look back at all the planning and the implementation of those plans, I see a successful bunch of people making something happen that I am really proud of. THIS HAS BEEN A REAL TEAM EFFORT THIS YEAR. A lot of people have worked very hard to make this show a real success and when we can finally take a deep breath late Saturday afternoon, I am sure we will all say—GREAT SHOW.

We could easily have over 200 cars at the show this year with our pre-registrations. Counting our cars we are pushing 100 pre-registrations. We learned a lot this year and our next year’s show will be even better than this one. For those of you who weren’t at the meeting on Monday night, we are meeting at the park at 6 PM Friday night to go over everything and make sure everyone knows their position/job on Saturday. It’s critical we have contingency plans for our parking just in case we go over 175 cars, and I think we will.

The Door Prize Committee will meet at 4 PM to organize those give-a-ways. You guys did an outstanding job of getting door prizes and some of you really went above and beyond what we asked for. There are some really nice prizes you guys provided and thank you for your help and contributions. We will also try and set up the tables and chairs and tents Friday afternoon and have the police patrol the park Friday night. That way we will have most everything set up Saturday morning and ready to go.

There are a lot of car shows coming up in October and November. I will try to get a handle on all of them and send out another email describing them. We kind of picked the Canton Show for our club to go to on October 11th. And we will want to support the Iron Horse Cruise in Mineola the last of October as well. That date may have changed so I will check on that.

Everyone needs to be thinking about who you want as officers for 2015. We are suppose to elect new officers at our November meeting and then they will take over in January. We don’t have a December meeting. We do the Christmas party in December in lieu of the meeting so election of officers is coming up pretty quick. We have several great candidates who are more than capable of leading the club next year. Having said that, I want to thank all of you for allowing me to be your President for the past two years. All of you have been wonderful to work with and fun to associate with. I think we have a great car club at Lake Country. And we have a perfect size club to have fun in and still have one major project like the car show to do every year.

Until next month, keep your classics classy and pray for sunshine on the 20th.
