President - Larry Barnes

Wow, we have a lot going on at Lake Country Classics Car Club these days. We just completed our 5th annual car show and it was a huge success. We had 207 cars at the show—our largest ever. And we put it on without any major glitches. The show was great, the entertainment was great, the awards were great, and the weather could not have been better. It just all came together this year and our club did an outstanding job of running and managing the show this year. A REAL TEAM EFFORT BY ALL. We had over 30 people who worked the show and that’s what it takes—a good team to make it happen.

I am already so excited about next year I can hardly stand it. We voted to tackle the classic car show and combine it with an air show. I think this will blow the doors off Wood County. It’s going to take a lot of planning and work but it will be worth it. This is so unique there is no telling how many spectators we will have but it will be a bunch. And parking is no problem. We can park 500 show cars on concrete and still have plenty of room for the general public. We have lots of decisions to make in the next few months and we have to get a real attention getting flier put together.

We also voted to reorganize the club utilizing 4 Vice Presidents and define what those positions will be responsible for. They will work closely with the President and this should really enhance the effectiveness of our organization. We will vote next meeting on an amendment to our charter so we can change the structure of the officers. We will also elect officers so it’s important that you be there to vote in your new officers. I’m looking for some volunteers that will step up and serve.

With all this extra excitement, let’s don’t forget that our main goal for our club is to have fun with our cars. There are a lot of car shows coming up in the next few months so let’s get together and have some fun. And believe it or not, our Christmas party isn’t far away. Thanksgiving is right around the corner too. I’m even ready for a fall fish fry—how about you?

I want to close by saying thank you to the entire club for letting me be your President for the last two years. I have had fun serving and I hope that most of what I have tried to lead the club to do was okay with you folks. We really do have a great club and I want to see it continue to grow and make a difference in our community. I think we have the balance about right now between having fun as a club and still making a contribution to our community. I hope you feel the same way. I’m telling you, our show this next year could very well be one of the largest events to ever hit Wood County. It’s up to us to make it happen—and we will.

Until next month, keep your classics classy
Larry Barnes
President
