President - Larry Barnes

Well the big show is only one month away now. On Sept 20th, our Lake Country Classics Car club will put on its 5th annual Classics In The Park Car Show at Jim Hogg Park in Quitman, Texas. This should be the best show we have ever had. I know I am really excited about this years show. I think the Grand Prizes we are giving away will help bring in around 200 cars this year. I mean who would not want a chance to win a 350 Short Block or an 18ft. Car Hauler? We already have a good number of pre-registrations and I think we will have a lot more before Sept. 13th. Remember to tell everyone you know to register early so they can be in the drawing for our cash give aways for pre-registrations.

All of the T-Shirts and awards have been ordered for the show. All the marketing committee’s projects are complete and ready to go. Darrell Slabaugh, Wayne Caldwell, Les Shaw and Curt Magee have done an outstanding job of putting together our advertising and marketing plan for our show. We have the live remote in place along with the ads for KMOO. Most of the Door Prizes are in. We still need some give aways for the goodie bags so if you can get some of the businesses you know to donate up to 75 items, that would help.

We have a great stage trailer lined up and an outstanding sound system lined up. The car hauler is being built as I write this page. Other than the goodie bag stuffers, we are just about ready for our show. We will have one more meeting on September 15th before the show. We will wrap up all our last minute details at that meeting.

We had a good meeting last Monday night and had a packed room of our members. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate everyone pitching in and helping with the door prizes, different committees etc. Ya’ll have really stepped up to the plate this year and helped make my job a lot easier. I think we have really had a great team effort this year and that is what it takes to have a successful club. I am proud to be a member of our great club.

Until next month, show off your classics and keep em classy.
