President - Larry Barnes

Well we are about to close out another year. Thanksgiving is almost here and Christmas is right around the corner and then a New Year kicks off. Lots of parties and good family time in the next six weeks. Speaking of Christmas parties, our club party will be Saturday December 13th, at Jim and Sue Ramsey’s again. We always have a great time at our party. The club is providing all the meat so you need to bring a side dish or dessert and a white elephant gift. Everyone that comes bring a white elephant gift—not expensive. The gift exchange is really a lot of fun the way we do it.

If you weren’t there on Monday night you missed the election of officers so here are the results of the election for your 2015 officers.

President—Darrell Slaubaugh,
Secretary—Bill Beech,
Vice-President Club Activities—Cleatus Pennington,
Vice-President Finances—Sherry Dupree Bridges,
Vice-President Media—Wayne Caldwell,
Vice-President Car Show—Larry Barnes.

I think we have a great line-up for next year and I know Darrell is already working on some big things for next year. Your vice-presidents are going to be calling on many of you to help in some areas of their responsibilities so I hope you will jump in and give them some help.

We are doing the Toys For Tots car show at the WalMart parking lot on December 6th from 10 AM to 2 PM. Please plan on bringing your cars so we can help the Marines gather lots of toys for the needy children in this area. Also, the Quitman Christmas Parade is that evening at 6 PM. We would like to have as many cars in the parade as we can. We will meet at the high school around 5:15 to get organized. I hope the weather cooperates with all this. If not, we will reschedule for the next week and try to cram in a car show and party. Not a problem for us high steppers—we can handle it if necessary.

One last mention—we elected Don Vaughn as our club Chaplain at our meeting. Don is going to be responsible for making sure that any of our members who have a sickness or death or whatever need they might have, are taken care of. Don is a retired pastor and will fit this position perfectly. However, he can only minister if he knows of the situation. So, if you or someone you know has a need, let Don or someone know so we as a club can be part of your life when you need a friend or some help.

I will write one last page in December after our party and then Darrell will take over in January. I have had the pleasure of working with Darrell this past year and I have learned a lot about him. He is a man who will be a perfect leader for our club. So, give him all the great support you have given me these past two years and let’s have a great 2015.
