President - Larry Barnes

Darrell Slabaugh arranged to have Tinker donate a Chevy 350 short block for the car show Grand Prize This Year! The car trailor is still in the works.

I am really excited about 2014. We have so many new things that we are doing to promote our club. We also have plans to do a lot of fun stuff as a club like cruises and cook-outs and breakfast runs etc. The club as a whole is now molding into a real car club.

We are going to be in constant contact with the city of Quitman to try and get the improvements needed at Jim Hogg Park so we can keep our show in Quitman in the years to come. The new marketing team is going to excite everyone. I can’t wait to see the productivity of this group. They are going to add so much to our overall success this coming year. Wayne Caldwell has developed an excellent format for our club newsletter and has taken on the responsibility of writing it every month. Everyone needs to give Wayne a big “Thank You” for agreeing to take on this project. You can click on his e-mail link right off this newsletter and tell him how much you appreciate his efforts.

Benita is taking over the administration of our Facebook page so it will always be current. We will start organizing our club committees for our September car show in a few months too. Our club offers our membership an opportunity to become involved in a lot of club activities and to help make a difference in the classic car fun stuff for our area.

We are working on our Scholarship program right now and I thank Ted Shock and Jay Sharp for volunteering to help me with that project. I will be sending out thank you letters to all our sponsors within the next two weeks like I did last year. I think that helped with our renewals. Be thinking about who you called on last year for sponsorships. Whenever you think the timing is right, go by and sign them up again for 2014. The sooner we get all our sponsors committed for 2014 the better. They can cut the checks any time before we order T-Shirts but their commitment is what we need as soon as we can get it. Realistically, we should see over 200 cars at our 2014 show. Rain is the only thing that should be a detriment to that number. Thanks to all of you for your support and help.

Get ready for a fun spring when we start attending car shows, cruises and outdoor club activities. We had over 40 people at our January meeting. What a great start for 2014. Our next big thing is our club cruise on February 22. See you there!
