President - Larry Barnes

Well we had another super turnout for our February meeting. Our club is very fortunate in that we have a lot of members who really care about our club. And, I think we are just a pretty fair bunch of folks to be around and have fun. I am excited about the upcoming cruise to Greenville for lunch on the 22nd. If you plan on meeting the group in Alba or Emory, you might call Ted and tell him so he can be looking for you to join the cruise. It will originate at Wal Mart in Mineola at 10:15 AM. I hope I get to make it but I may not. I know my car isn’t going to be ready but we may try to go in our regular vehicle. This place we are going to is really a classic car place. You will enjoy it so come on and go with us.

A big welcome to our three new members—Curt & Diana Magee and Bryan Barnes. We had two visitors Wade Williams and Wendell Williams. Wendell is planning on coming back next month and joining and maybe Wade will too. I saw Wendell’s 57 Chevy Monday night and it is really nice.

I have another update for you. I met with the Executive Director of the Quitman Development Corporation on Tuesday 2-18-14 at Jim Hogg Park. We went over the layout again and it looks to me like we have a go for the extra parking blacktop and I expect it to be in place before our show. Not a totally done deal yet but about as close as you can get without calling it a done deal.

Don’t forget our first car show of the year on March 8th in Mineola. At our next meeting we will decide on when to have our first fish fry of the year and I will have a list of all the shows coming up in April.

April is a big month for shows. Also, I just happened to stumble into another meeting option in Quitman that will seat 100 people and we could have our meetings catered for no more than we are paying now—if we outgrow Oakridge. I will tell you all about that at the next meeting. Amazing how things just seem to come together. I am also working on having a special guest for our next meeting. Thanks again for all of your club support.
